Install Mapiry as an App (PWA)

Add Mapiry to your home screen on iOS, Android, or desktop and open maps like a native app

Updated February 24, 2026

You can install Mapiry as a Progressive Web App (PWA), so maps open in a native app-like window with quick access from your home screen or dock.

Why Install Mapiry

  • Faster launch from your home screen
  • App-like experience without browser chrome
  • Easy access to the map you were viewing
  • Better offline startup behavior when combined with saved offline maps

Install on iPhone / iPad (Safari)

  1. Open Mapiry in Safari.
  2. Open the map you want quick access to.
  3. Tap Share.
  4. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  5. Rename if needed, then tap Add.

Tip: If you add Mapiry while viewing a specific map, launching from that icon will reopen that map path.

Install on Android (Chrome)

  1. Open Mapiry in Chrome.
  2. Tap the browser menu (three dots).
  3. Tap Install app (or Add to Home screen on some devices).
  4. Confirm install.

You can also accept the install prompt when Chrome shows it.

Install on Desktop (Chrome / Edge)

  1. Open Mapiry in Chrome or Edge.
  2. Click the install icon in the address bar (or menu > Install app).
  3. Confirm install.

Mapiry will open in its own window and can be pinned to taskbar/dock.

Open a Specific Map from the Installed App

Best approach:

  1. Navigate to the map URL you use most often.
  2. Install from that page.

Mapiry preserves deep links, so launching from the installed shortcut opens the relevant path.

Troubleshooting

If you do not see install options:

  • Ensure you are on HTTPS
  • Use a supported browser (Safari, Chrome, Edge)
  • Reload once and try again
  • Confirm you are not in private/incognito mode

If offline startup is inconsistent, update to the latest app/browser version and re-open the map online once before going offline.
